I recently came into possession of a 1994 Wrangler YJ, with the 2.5L 4, and the 5 speed manual transmission,  soft top, completely bone stock, 204k miles, but runs amazingly, and was well taken care of by its first and only previous owner. I'm just curious...anyone have any advice on some cheaper and easier power adders than some of the things like headers that were mentioned in aprils magazine? Also, if you've any advice on some things that could make the engine last as long as possible, i'd greatly appreciate it.

I purchased a 92 that had been owned buy a old guy and taken care of. towed behind motorhome. I was looking for a YJ to swap a V6 or V8 into. was bone stock. I have 200K on mine now. I have decided not to swap it out. (for now anyway). I have done the following. Accell coil and wires, Bosch 4 plugs, 160 Stat, KN air filter, opened up the Air box, Electric fan, removed the Cat., and most of all I took the fuel injecters and fuel rail off and took it to a fuel injestion company who completely cleaned it and tested it for $80.00. I have noticed a considerable difference just in those little things. I am planning on having mine bored, and cammed for $1200.00 by a local engine shop. I understand the 4.0 fuel injecters help and the 4.0 throttle body but I have not done it. I won't header mine because of the bad luck I have had with headers. I use mine for offroad and some on road. just remeber! if you have it tuned or worked on by a shop the computer will show error codes. mine says it runs to lean and that it isn't coming to operating temp. the engine shops say the biggest problem with these are they get hot and crack heads. Good luck.
