Hello, I have a 84 CJ7. I don't use my heater and don't need it. I was wanting to clean up the engine compartment by bypassing the heater core. From my understanding this is done by running a hose from the water pump output to the input on the back of the intake manifold. Will this do any damage to my engine?

I have bi-passed a few myself. It can allow your engine to run warmer. your heater core is basically a little radiator but we run a fan across it to get the warm air to the cab. if a engine starts over heating you can help it by cranking on the heater fan. this will run your temp up but it allows more cooling for the engine. I have never had it give me any problems (bypassing). But I change all my rigs t-stats to 160 deg. so this gives me a little allowance anyway. so I would lower the t-stat if it was me and I did it. Good luck.
