I just discovered the Jeep Forward Control truck at a Michigan 2007 Jeep event.  Also a book put out by Incongrafix, Peter C. Sessler (1941-2000 Photo Archive), has a section that does a good job of documenting these funky vehicles.  Fast forward to the JP April 08 magazine and there is a full page article, grrrr.  Being up here in Michigan, these vehicles are quite rare and pugliness is a great term to describe them.  Up to last year I could only remember the Dodge version (100), never even knew Willys/Jeep originally made them.  Problem is I want one, but live in town, one car driveway, tandem garage, and the wife's daily driver gets one spot, and the other goes to our warm weather car.  When I read the article I was like, darn-it, every time I get interested in a vehicle it gets popular, then the prices start to rise.  On the other hand, the more folks that know about em might restore em, or sell them, as opposed to letting them rot or rust away.  Anyway, great article, I'm considering attending this years FC Arizona event.  I really like these funky vehicles.

I missed the event this year, it was this past weekend.  Did you go?

I doubt the FC will ever be mainstream.  There is just a lot of work that is needed to put them back on the road.  Even in the SW, they have rust issues and require custom made panels to fix.  So many curves and no aftermarket support means to restore one is really a labor of love.  You should be ok for a few more years.

Hey Willy, Nada, didn’t make it, would have liked to if I was closer.  Seems most Jeep events are either on the west or east coast, and driving for 3 days for a one day event… But I do plan on attending a Michigan Jeep club blessing event at the end of this month (April), around 400 Jeeps showed up last year, and it would be nice to see some FCs.  I finally broke down and bought a digital camera, so if any are there I’ll take some pics and try and post them.   Safe wheeling.
