I DONT THINK ANYBODY IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD PROTEST GETTING A FREE ENGINE LET ALONE A 327...IF I WERE YOU GUYS ID PULL THE PAN AND CHECK THE BEARINGS,IF THEY LOOK GOOD ID LEAVE IT AND CHANGE THE OIL PUMP AND PUT A MILD CAM IN AND A NEW GASKET KIT,NEW INTAKE AND CARB....I HAD A 327 IN A 68 CHEVY PUP AND I NEVER USED ANY LEADED ADDITIVE, ITLL RUN ON THE HIGH PRICED GAS JUST FINE...AS FAR AS IT MATING W/TRANS IM NOT SURE,BUT SOMEONE ON HERE WILL KNOW...JUST HANG OUT FOR A BIT AND ENJOY THE SITE AND GOOD LUCK ON THIS SWAP.

I also don't think anybody would mind at all. Just as an fyi the current gm 5.3 shares about the same cubic volume. If I did my math right a 5.3 gm motor is about 324 cubic inches. Good luck on the swap and your 327 will not care if it drinks leaded or unleaded.

I don't think you should. I really think you should just give me the motor so you wont be tempted to use it.

yank off the heads and have hard seats installed into the heads and run premium gasoline, then theres no need for additives....another option is to bolt on a set of 305 heads, then you'll also gain accesory mounting holes for more alternator and powersteering options.
just for kicks.. what is the casting number on the heads?

Yes, it's true. The GM V-8 will bolt up right in place of the old Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. However, the factory tranny will live about as long as a hampster in a cat house. You'll need to swap the tranny. Build exhausts, deal with the cooling system, and so on. Funny thing is that the engine is often the least expensive part of the swap. Even with a free complete engine it's safe to expect most engine swaps to cost at least $2,000-$5,000 once you get it running and all the bugs worked out.

ah id tell u the casting #'s but it aint at the house so yea lol. il find out. thanks guys yea my dads gonna make this cj-7 a wheeler so 5000 might be more like it. it needs some work but suprisingly its not rusted out the out side has no rust well i guess the tub were the tail gate hinges are rusted the hinges push in the tub in the back. the tub inside needs some of the pannels welded back together at the joints they split apart. is the cj 30 stronger than the tj and yj 30? its an ugly persimon orange i think it was red at one time because the interior paint is red lol.

oh arent 305 heads crap thought my dad told me one time his friend had 3 different sets of heads on a 305 so the guy sold the car. think he said the valves are junk. what about 350 heads have them lol. or even 350 bigvalve heads? wonder if you changed the heads if a different intake would be needed?

the old 327's don't do well without the high compression,
the problem with 305 heads is they are a lighter cast as the most common 350 head (882's), and the valve guides, which is just takes a set of bronze guides to fix, they also have better seals than the old style o-rings.
the hO 327's have big valves, they just have small closed chamber combustion chambers ranging from 54cc to 68cc. so if you went and bolted on a set of new 76cc without changing the pistons and cam, it'll run like a POS.
the intake from a 1955 265 will bolt on all the sbc's up to 1987....
