Would a CJ-8 with:
Hardtop
4.5" lift kit
33 x 12.5 tires
Fit in a 78" tall garage?

i don't know... do the math...  how tall is it now... how much taller will it be with just the lift... (height now + 4.5" =heightB)

then how much bigger is the "radius" of the 33's compared to the tires you have now...
(heightB + difference in tire size)  if that's less then 78" then you'll be fine...  my brothers '84 CJ 7 has almost 9" (estimated) of lift and 35's... and it fits in his garage... which is quite small

Don't forget the extra height if you change tire sizes....i.e. 31's to 33's is gonna raise the vehicle approx. 1 inch...33-31=2 inches now 50% of 2 inches is 1 inch total vehicle lift.  But ya already know this...

Thanks for your help. I wish it was easy as measuring the CJ, but I'm building this from the ground up and want to make sure that with the components I select I'll be able to get it out of the garage when I get it all together. So far I've get the following on the way:
TDK frame, remanufactured 258 motor, NV 3550, NP 231, RE 4.5" YJ springs, Dana 44 Rubicon differentials, and many misc parts.

Looks like you have a fun and cool project you are getting ready to start.  And about the height thing if it doesn't fit in the garage I have a garage it'll fit in...  But really good luck and have lots of fun with your project.

If the jeep is too tall to get into the garage, you can do what my grandfather did to his 86 CJ7. He aired down to get through the door and air back up on each side. On a standard garage there should be like a foot to foot and a half from the garage door frame and the ceiling.

my rubi (TJ) is a hair under 74" tall on a 2.5" lift and 34" tires,
If the cj had axles under it I could have measured it..sorry

Get A pile of cinder blocks, solid ones preferably. Now get out your Hi-Lift jack, & jack up your garage, A little at A time. Use wood blocks to shim as you go...... just kidding, but it might work if you are careful.
