I've been looking through a catalog, and see they sell new jeep tubs. What I would really like is an older CJ, but in Minnesota there are not a lot of them available. I think I would like to buy the new CJ body out of the catalog, and mount it on an existing frame with engine.
What type of frame/engine combo would work best. I was thinking maybe a Ford Bronco II. I'm assuming that it would have to be something smaller do to the jeeps smaller size, without too much alteration to the frame. I hate to go to small like a chevy tracker, due to less engine power. I'm also assuming that it would have to be something with similar length and width for proper wheel alignment with the wheel wells on the new body.
I would really appreciate any suggestions.

here in IN there is a junkyard i go to they have a couple of yj frames. il bet with a little bit of work not sure how much but put a cj-7 tub hood fender and grill and the rest of like electrical and steering colum. also some wagoneer axles or even scout 2 axles they are about the same as wagoneer axles just have 5 lug not 6 like wags. their are tons of things try google.com and type in some things they would most likely have a couple of ideas. i doubt a cj-5 tube would fit due to the cj-7 is longer and i think wider than the 5. you could use darn near any engine tranny and tcase also that cat u were looking at should have new frames.
