where the rub is here is the lower control arm when the tires are fully turned, they barely rub the arm. so if you were to put a set of 31" swampers on instead of a all terrain tire, then ther'd be a bigger problem from the lugs sticking out there.

I have the factory 15 x 8 wheel and have minimal tire rub at full flex and turned to the stops with the 31 inch tires so you should be fine or add a washer or two to the stops and see how much rub you have then. Whatever washers you add to one steering stop add to the other one.

so if i go to a mud terrain with a more aggressive side lug what sort of back spacing will i need to go with to avoid these issues, or will backspacing even solve the problem? i really like the ride height i have now and am not wanting to have to lift it. however the ta-ko is not aggressive enough for my offroad use. basically the question is can i run mts without a lift and different wheels?

at the most a 5" backspace like the stock moab wheels found on the 03 and up rubicon... if your planning on going to a set of 33x12.5's in the future goto a 4.5" backspace...
for max travel without rubbing the front and rear spring pads 3.5" backspacing will be needed, the down side is they kinda make the tires stick outside of the flares

fully stuffed with 34x12.5-16 TrXus m/t's on 5" backspacing...this is at the point the bumpstops keep the tires from rubing the top of the fenders..they need 3.5" backspacing

rear getting stuffed w/insuficient backspacing.....
