my buddy yesterday that jeep had a place on their website that you can see what your jeep can with from the factory! pretty cool!! so i pulled it up for my sport, and to my suprise my tj came from the factory with a factory 44 rear end. however as i go down this list it shows a trac-lok rear diff.. first question what the heck is trac-lok? i know i dont have lockers or a limited slip cause there has been time i wished i had a l-s or locker...it also shows i should have 4 wheel antilock as well but i have drum in the rear, so i know that is incorrect. is there anyway to pull up my vin and do a check of what it came with, cause this is really confussing me

I went to my Jeep dealer and had them pull up a print out with my info on it. The trac-loc is a limited slip....if i'm not mistaken. I could be wrong. I noticed with mine in the past, if it gets in a bind, it will act like a open diff with only on wheel spinning till it frees up.  Cant help ya with the 4 wheel antilock. Hope this helps.

I have an 04 sport it has the dana 44 with trac-lock. Yes the trac-lock is a limited slip. I have 4 wheel disc brakes and no abs, I can attest to the no abs. Lots of fun on wet streets. Anyways it does have a set of baby drums inside the rear disc brake rotors in a so called hub area and those are for the emergency brakes.  As jeepnut stated when the lsd is in a bind it may not work properly, the clutches may be worn, it may also be just worn out fluid with no friction modifier left.  So an oil change with the friction modifier may help performance of the lsd.  Bear in mind the factory trac-lock does not offer stellar performance.
