Hello!!!!
I'm looking for advice on swapping an NV4500 trans into my 95 XJ W/ 4.0L 6 with AW4 auto trans and NP231. If anyone knows the best donor vehicle - Dodge or Chevy - and what adaptors and shaft changes are required to make this swap.............. and should I look for jeep clutch linkage or would I need linkages from the donor vehicle or some combination of both. As well as what type of flywheel and clutch would I use. anybody done this............... I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers

Hi
I have just done a NV4500 conversion with a NP231 on my 93 YJ.
The donor is the 96 Dodge Ram 5.9 Diesel, you will then have to contact Advanced Adapters to supply you with the correct bell housing, T/C adapter, Shift stub adapter, hydraulic clutch kit.
As for the automatic, I am not quite sure what you're supposed to do there, my guess is you will have to modify some electronics, possibly reprogram the ECU. Then you have to go buy a jeep clutch pedal and clutch master cylended.
The clutch disk and pressure plate are all stock, the thrust bearing how ever can be from a Chevy or you can get it from advanced adapters, you will also need to purchase a pilot bushing from Advanced adapters as your input shaft will be smaller.
As for the linkages, you can modify your own, or just did what I did, buy the complete kit which contains everything you need to do the modification.
The other thing you will have to do is change the front and rear drive shafts as the T/C will be shifted backwards about 4". I had mine custom made by tom woods.
I haven't quite finished writing the lot up, but you can check out what I have done here. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2914719/12
I know I might be a bit late, but I hope that some one else will find this useful.
AX-15 to NV4500 conversion on a YJ, all the low ratio you'll ever need!!
