I just purchased a 1963 willys cj 3b. It has a dana 44 rearend with 5.38 gears. I am not sure if it is limited-slip, or the trak-lok differential that was optional. (there are no tags on diff cover) I would like to put a spool in the rear, will a standard dana 44 spool work in this carrier?

My 63 has 19 spline axle shafts in the rear dana 44. The gentleman at Drive Train Specialists told me that the only spools or mini-spools available for a dana 44 rear axle are for 30 spline axle shafts only. I may upgrade the rear axle to a dana 44 from a mid 70s cj-5. There is also an Auburn limited-slip available for the 19 spline axles for a reasonable price. I do prefer the predictability of a spool though.
