I'm about to put a D44 froun end out of a 79 scout into my CJ-5, I have noticed that the arms on the scout knuckles are waaaaay too long to work with my steering box in its current location. i've heard that one can use the knucles and hubs from the CJ D30, i haven't checked but thos big 44 axleshafts don't look like they would fit inside the CJ spindles. anybody ever tackled this one before?

the scout you will have to watch the angles of your ball joints.alot of the scouts used a 8 bolt spindle,so the cj wont work.a better solution would be a narrow width cherokee from same year(or 77 and older for flat tops).use the axles out of scout front,77-78 cj 1 1/8 thick rotors, chevy backing plate and caliper.the cherokee one should work too, jeep spindles and hub assembly to keep you 5 bolt.if you got anymore questions get ahold of me.you will also have to widen the frame where the spring mounts go.im doin a wrangler spring swap to get rid of those 1 3/4 springs,i am documenting it all so ill have pics.hope this helps
75 cj5,amc 360,t-18,d-20,d-44 front and rear,4 wheel disc,onboard air,full cage.36inch buckshot mudders,8,000lb winch
