Improving Engine Performance @ Economy

I own a 2008 Rubicon. I would like to improve its performance, particularly better acceleration at the lower RPM. I would also like to improve fuel economy because its my daily commuter and I take it on long trips (as long as 20 hours), hauling a trailer with a motorcycle. What really works. I've read about: Cold Air Intakes, performance spark plugs, performance chips, throttle body spacers, and the ultimate.. a new exhaust. I don't want to change my exhaust because the vehicle is new. I may have missed a few items. What really works! Any Advice! Thanks, SJ

I'm thinking of putting a Stage 1 Jet Chip in my 01 TJ, but not sure about it.  Jet says it's for stock engines w/ no mods.  I also want an Airaid Intake and Borla exhaust to help out my four popper, and how the Jet chip will work with that I don't know.  Something you might also think about bro is gears.  Moving up could help with your low rpm acceleration and towing.

The V6 in the JKs is gonna respond differently to performance mods than the good ol 4.0L

For now I'd stick with just the cold air intake and a nice after-cat system that uses something more substantial than a straight through muffler.  The straight through designs are a bit obnoxious.  You'll probably see a 1-1.5mpg improvement on the highway with these 2 mods.  Don't bother with the ignition just yet since all your components are still new.

I too am looking for advice on customizing an '08 Rubicon Unlimited w/6 Speed Standard. I am looking for better acceleration, lifting, front brush guards and exhaust sound. What can be done within the limits of the factory warranties? The Jeep Service Manager put the fear of voiding the warranty if I do anything outside of his service department.

What can be done?

Also, has anyone been able to make the MyGIG DVD player work on a standard transmission? I live in a state that has fuzzy laws on when the DVD Screen can be used.

I am a total rookie when it comes to these types of things, so please excuse my ignorance.

the only way to go when it comes to your v6 wrangler is UNICHIP.  it is dynoed at i forget 25+- hp by its self. plus it can be mapped to work in conjuntion with cold air intakes headers exhaust and other stuff. gains are more on the 3.8 are more than the 4.0. best chip for power, no octane rating, equal or better gas milage.

I'm pretty sure the V6 on the JKs (and the 2.4L, 4 cylinders on the later TJ models) uses a Mass Air Flow Sensor to control air/fuel ratio.  This versus the Manifold Air Pressure type sensors you'd find on most YJs/TJ 2.5 or 4.0L engines.

The Mass Air Flow setups I've used on other vehicles do a much better job handling mods like high flow intake/headers/exhausts. So it probably the same with the JKs

Yeah, intake and cat back would probably a good move with the JK to start.  Then maybe regear or supercharge if you needed some more kick.

the single best improvement for lifted and bigger shod rigs is a gear change.
