I was wondering if anyone knows if you can swap a 231 with a 242 in a 91 xj with the AW4 tranny and what mods if any are needed?

Let me reword this. I have a 91 XJ with the AW4 tranny and a 231 t-case. I was wondering if the input/output shaft spline counts are the same on the 97 242 t-case. If so are there any mods needed for length differences or anything like that.?
