my 97 tj has a rough idle if you let it sit for about 5min but never goes dead and when you first start it up it has a spudder when you first take off.you can hit the clutch and rev it and then its fine.but it does it every time you start it.does anyone know what could cause this?thanks

YOU MAY TAKE A PEEK AT YOUR IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE AND GIVE YOUR THROTTLE BODY A CLEANING

I have also had issues with my fuel injectors clogging up. if you don't stay on top of the fuel filter you will get particles in your injectors and fuel rail then your computer tries to compensate for it threw air fuel mixing. pull a plug wire one at a time while its running bad and see if it changes sound. if it does change when any one plug wire on one cylinder is pulled it could be somewere at that cylinder(no fuel or no spark). how about a basic tune up first. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, pcv valve, this probably needs done anyway!

my first idea was the fuel filter but autozone told me that theres not one in line and you have to drop the tank.is this true?whats a pcv valve?i changed plugs and i cant tell a big difference.im workin on wires, cap, exc.what bothers me is it takes a long time to start when the motors cold.when its warm it fires right up and if it dosnet start when you first try you can let of and turn it over again and it fires right up.the spuddering just happens when its first started and you dont rev it or just start it and take off but you can let off the gas and it stops.if you give it more gas it keeps on untill you let off then its fine.anymore ideas?thanks
