the rear for the most part does the trick, I don't care for a full time locker up front, they just don't turn for beans...

Hey Mud
How you been, I should have known you would be the first to kick back an answer.
Thats what I figured as well as far as the front and back. But Mud what can you tell me about these lockright lockers...Anygood?
Waist of money? Should I look towards something else.
Freinds around here swear by them.

the lock rite is not a bad locker i ran one in theback of my 96 xj for a couple years and i now have one in the front of my 98 tj if i were you i would put it in the front but it can give a real squirly ride in the back what it does is engages when power is put to it so driving around town wont be a big prob when in 2 wheel dr. i've got a limmited slip in the rear and go any where i want

Lock Right INFO(click link)

I was doing a little searching........I also found they aren't recomended for use with over 33" tires in the D35.  These aren't anything I've personally considered using on the street for a daily driver I prefer a selectable or air locker that is a open diff when not in use. lockers, LSD, and posi of any kind can cause trouble in a short wheelbase vehicle on wet or slick conditions. obviously they work awesome...if the user can manage with the side effects. the lock right seems to eliminate some quirks of other lockers, still will engage under acceleration and get you sideways. I still don't fully understand how they work but I'm looking.........even the factory LSD in my rubicon is a handfull at times.

i had a buddy who ran them front and rear in a 70 something 1/2 ton ford on 33's that he abused regularly and he never had problems with them, but i've heard that they make jeeps handle funny when run on the front. i'd stick one in the rear first and see if that does what you need, and if not, try one in the front later. if it sucks in the front at least it's a pretty cheap easy lesson.

i use one in the front of my 2000 tj, love it, pull the lever, both tires pull when ever you are on the throttle, let up they turn seperately. i use a detroit in the rear, but the same principal,lock-rite is not as harsh tho.  i haven't had a prob running 35's wisely, have a friend who runs one in the rear d44 in a cj5 on 33's w/nary a prob, i guess it comes down to your tire size, how you will use it and budget...if only one put in, my choice would be the rear. because i'm willing to adjust to it on the street to be o-so-good on the trails.

Hey guys keep it coming , I'll take all input!!
Now that Mud has given me a few choices...
really through in a mix to look at.
Good to have choices though.

And yes the rear seems to be the first choice of many.
I guess I'll have to look into it alittle more and dive in. When I do I'll let you know the results.
Happy trails

I have lock rights in front an rear of my project rig an cant wait to get it going.  If I had to pick I would say the back for trail use, but if your kid or your wife is going to be driving it seems to make since to put it in the front for on pavement driving.  Keep in mind your weight transfers to the back when your on the throttle.
