Just picked up a 2000 TJ. D44 rear/ D30 front.
I need to know what t case I got. Its got a cv d'shaft.
Also, I cant read the tag on the front or rear diff cover, but I know its got a limited slip rear. What ratio might it be. Its a Sport. 31" tires running about 2000 rpm at 60 mph.
This is my first TJ so I'm not sure about the different things that are associated with it.
Any other advice would be great...suspension,engine mods, etc.
Thanks

I have an 04 tj sport that when it was bought had the 30 inch tires on it with the d30/d44 combo. My d44 has the trac-lock limited slip. The axle ratios are 3.73 and the transfer case ratio is either 2.72 or 2.73. I now run some 31's on it and your 2000 rpms sound about right for 60 mph I can't take it out for a test drive right now, cuz I am at work. But you can tell what ratio you have in your axle by jacking the rear in the air and spining your rear tire one revolution and see how many times your driveshaft rotates. i.e. roughly one tire revolution to 3 and 3/4 driveshaft revolution will be 3.73.

I wasn't sure if it was the 231 or not.
Thanks again for the help.

the t-case is a 231/2.71 ratio, you have 3.08 gears....if its a auto that is..

Its the 5 speed. When did they stop using the ax 15 and started using the nv3550. I thought it was in 2000. Was that only on select models or am I wrong about the year. I've looked in Q'tec and 4WD and they only show the 15 till 1999. Also they show the 231 till 1999. Whats up with that? They have the 3550 upgrade and it says that the 3550 was fitted into the 2000-2004 Wranglers. Once again, was that on certain models or something?

I have the 04 with 3550 5 speed and I just took it out for a spin. In 5th gear (basically overdrive) at 60 mph I am running 2000 rpm. In 4th which should be 1 to 1 I am running about 2500 rpm. I am running 31's with 3.73 gears in the axle.
