Mudb,
That's 1" body and 2.5" suspension (3.5" total) riding on 39s? That's about the same amount of roam my TJ has for up travel and it only has 35s on 6" Suspension? You sure those are 39s? Looks more like 35s to me, but it's hard to tell in a pic. How's the turning radius on that TJ with that offset? When I put 31s on my TJ with 8" rims, the tires hit the control arms hard. BTW, at full compression on the front and the tires bearly clear the control arms and fenders with 3.5" backspacing on 10" rims.
On the otherhand, I've seen 4" lifts on TJs with about 2" between the top of the tire and fender with rub damage on the flares, while other 4" kits appear to work fine.
You broke leaf springs with a vertical impact? Wow. The only time I've personnally seen a leaf snap is when they were on lift blocks are decades old (not counting those stupid mono leafs).
Long arms are still expensive and I have seen them pretzeled. Sure long Arms on a TJ are great off road and ok on road, but it's not a cheap or orginal solution.

Jeepnut,
I bet in grade school you successfully fit the square peg in the round hole. lol You gotta post those pics. Though it's not quite what I'm going for, it is definately cool, but tire spoons.... I think I would have taken them to a 4x4 shop.

the highline fenders add another 3.5" of clearance also so its about equal to having 7" of suspension lift, yep they are 37's in the pic and the turning radius is nearly as stock, 39"s fit nicely with a 3.5" suspension lift 1" body and highline fenders.
on the spring thing..I've had several break on me along with sheared pins, then again I'm not your average wheeler either!
the fender flares get rubed from not enough backspacing, I use 4.5-5" for 12.5 wide tires, they tuck up nicely without hitting the flares and bumpstops for the 4" lift keep 35's from getting shoved into the top of the fenders..
jeepnut has a few pics in his thread, check em out!

Mudb,
Yea, that looked much more beleivable. Looks like they basically replaced the whole front clip, hood fenders and all. Did they just cut the rear fenders out? It looks like the new clip just moves the fenders up about 2-3" so when you add 3" of lift you have plenty of roam for 35-37" tires? That's gotta be expensive and definately requires some very good fabricating skills or deep pockets to pay somebody. For someone with an big budget, that is the way to go.
However, not all have that much *** or skills. That's why I like the idea of leafs up front and control arms out back. Almost anyone can bolt on new leafs on a CJ or YJ (also cheaper than TJs) and adding short arms out back (I know - travel is more limited). I believe I saw a kit that claimed to be bolt on w/ limited fabricating (adding the buckets to seat the coils) to add coils w/control arms on a YJ. This should be a cheaper way to get a better riding Jeep both on road and off. And it is truely unique as I have never seen it done that way.
Loved that TJ though.

na, Its a 1900$ kit that is nearly a bolt on install. some triming in the rear, nothing the average person couldn't do.
it adds about 3.5" of clearance.
the highlinefenders are my next project, along with a Nth degree tummy tucker to finish off all the other nth pieces I've collected from e-bay and classified adds.

there seems to be many that think everthing on a tj costs more...a rough country 4" lift is only $527.00 some even include the shocks...there's nothing wrong with the cheap RC lift either they perform well also and only require average tools and the ability to follow directions to install.

the link arms dont bend when you build em like i did. i used 2inch x 1/4 inch wall dom tubing. you could drop the jeep from the sky on a huge bolder right on the arm and you would bend the frame before you bent a link arm. not shure what kind of tubing size they use in the bolt on kits though.
will work for jeep parts!

Jeepnut, You never fail to surprise me! All that extra weight down there makes it more stable too! lol If I want a bullet proof Jeep I'm coming to you.

Mudb,
Sounds better than I thought, but $1900 for the body panels plus $500-$600 for the lift plus the cost of what ever labor I would have to farm out adds up. BTW When I mentioned the cost of TJs being higher than YJs and CJs I was talking about the price of the Jeeps not the kits. Still a good project though. I wish I could have afforded that for my TJ.

ya, but with the fenders alone 33's will fit comfortably on stock suspension, and a set of 1-3" shocks gives the articulation comparable to a 4" lift and we get to keep the stock ride aside from the choice of shocks.
I follow you ther on the cost now...I have found tj's under 5,000 though in need of work or with a 4cyl.

Hey Mud, How much clearence is gained by just a set of flat fenders. This guy makes some nice ones, that would paint up great. http://www.jpfaboffroad.com/
5.3L vortec, 4l60E, Np231, 3" lift on Hankook Dynapro MT 35x12.50x15, Gr8tops 1/2 cab, Custom tonneau cover,

Just spoke to the company. They claim a 2.5 inch Clearance gain all the way around. That should give me plenty for 35's on my 3" lift.

Mudb,
Sorry, but 33s will not work on a TJ at stock height. When I put 31s with 8" rims on my TJ they hit the control arms and the top of the fenders. I doubt it would get any better with a tire 2" taller... I don't see that working without a sawzaw.
BTW, if you find a TJ under $5000, but it needs work, then it really isn't $5000 is it? I get what you're saying though. In a few years they will be very affordable.

yeah, thats what I've come across also is about 2.5" for the flat fender, the look good to...my last set or tires were 35's under the 2.5" rancho HD lift on my rubi.
ya missed the part about stock suspension and highline fenders, and yes they fit and articulate without contact...31x 10.5's barely rub on stock wheels. use 4.5 or 5" backspaced wheels, these will allow the use of 33x12.5's with out rubbing. (the stock wheels are 5.5) get rid of the sawzall and get a 15mm socket and ratchet and add a 1" stack of washers or use the sawzall to cut some 1" long pipe stock and bolt it back in, longer poly bumpstops are also available.
2-2.5" is all that is needed to run 33's on a tj without ill effects. correct bumpstops keep the tires out of the fenders, rubicons only need a 1" body lift for 33's, there's no speculation here from me..I've lifted countless TJ's, cj's, yj's and full size trucks.
there is also a tj owner here (schwarzenberger) that runs 35's on stock suspension w/1" body lift and adjustable rear lower arms. there's many pics of this rig here also. up front it has a fiber hood, crawlijuana's rubi (posted in the flex thread) is running 33s under a 1" body lift.
If you haven't already seen it,,, this is my rubi on 34" trXus m/t's under a 2.5" HD rancho lift. the front sway bar is disconnected in this pic and is flexed some.
