I'm replacing my dying 5sp 6cyl Jeep with a 6.0 from an '04 Yukon, with its 4L60E auto tranny. Engine/tranny/NP231 with SYE and adapters are just about ready to go. Motor mounts are removed and Novak's new style mounts are in the mail. So now I'm looking at the engine bay, trying to understand these various wiring diagrams, and can't figure out what I can eliminate! The GM harness is being reworked to a 4/5 wire hookup, and computer flashed, so I'm trying to figure out if I can remove the Jeep's computer and any other stuff - and how to ID it! Recommendations, other than "figure out the diagrams?" I just figured that somebody's already done this and has tips/tricks!

I'm doing a 5.3l to a 97 wrangler. Everyone I have talked to, suggest a painless, or fuel inction specalist wiring harness. This allows you to completely remove the jeep engine harness, and they have already deleted the unused engine wiring. Unless you go to an aftermarket guage cluster, you have to use the jeep computer to run the jeep guages, and you must maintain the jeep chassie harness. Tach will not work. this is info is for the 97 Wrangler. Novak has alot of info on this subject.
5.3L vortec, 4l60E, Np231, 3" lift on 35's, Gr8tops 1/2 cab, Custom tonneau cover.

Yeah, I know; I've done tons of research, including Novak's and 30 other sites! :-) The harness I'll get back will be pretty much complete, and won't need the Jeep's computer; I'm just trying to figure out which wires are which, and which I need for heater, etc...that I have to keep. It's a mess!
