You might have to fabricate new body mounts. Not being able to see the two Jeeps It's hard to say what you will need to do. what's the big deal? The wiring is the scariest part to most people. Jeeps arn't rocket science. If you are willing to do this body swap, just do it.

You might have some trouble because Jeep widened the rear half of the frame in '76. Body mounts would be different, I think--but I could be wrong...

if u did find a cj4 (which u probably didn't because there was only 1 known cj4 around and i believe it was made in the early 50s) i certainly wouldn't put a cj5 body on it because it could be a collector item. u probaly have a intermediate year cj5.
the frames are different between the 2, but you might only have to drill new mounting holes

thats what i am talkin about open top Jeep!!! not bad to go from that to the finished product ![]() i will try to give you a run down of what we have hear its a 74 cj-5 chasis with 80 cj-5 body custom mounted with custom bent 6pt rollcage. 304 v-8,Holley carb, Mallory ign. high flo water pump 4 core rad. t-3 tranny, dana 20, dana 44 locker rear & dana 35 3:73 gears front drum brakes converted to disk. I dont know where to start as far as goodies stainless brake lines and hoses. I have a dana 300 transfer case to go in but have to find adaptor oh yeah and cash any way the pics obvious the rotted body etc that is close to what the 74's body really looked like when i purchased it, that is sitting on the 80 frame and drive train 2.5's do not like mud (inside them). the bare frame pic in the garage the engine is completed getting ready to open every other can of worms. The olive drab is the 80 body sittin on the original frame engine blown no 3rd gear in tranny and the frame was well lets just say it was broke. this rig is way more than show its a beautiful engine not scared to get down and dirty and the caution yellow spray bomb paint job have extra paint right down at the hardware store. I now know why they say you have to own a old cj with a V-8. the torque and hp is almost scary but its a fine line between scary and lots of fun.The blue windshield pic was the windshield going in so i could take it to Buddy's welding shop to do cage and extra and custom mounts. so if you can make heads or tails great if not ask i will more than likely know the answer or may have better pic if you need. its kinda up for the winter we will see if i will take it out might trailor it down to aspen or something but it eats fuel quick. the last pic is very self explanatory...nothing but a garage full of fun. Til the wife gets home and has to put her Jeep in the garage instead women Of course she has a Jeep too it may be a liberty but it still has Jeep on the front!!!!
