the main reason i went with the coopers instead of the bfg's, was because of the warrenty. cooper offers a lifetime on the tires (tread wear), plus i got additional coverage for the valve stems. all for $10 additional, so if some joker slices anything (happened to one of my stems) it's covered.

I have got to wheel bfg's in everything but rocks and they have worked out pretty good. My favorite however is the super swamper irok for mud and snow. They wear out fast on the street but the traction you get is worth it.

Coopers are good, they do not get enough credit.

I had a set of GoodYear MT/R 31 on my YJ for 22K miles and it's still has more than half tread left. I did on and offroad rides and forgot about rotation, the tread was still ok even after some smokshows!!!. They rides well and sounds great on street and the agressive tread is perfect in mud. The tread on the side of tires grab the mud and give xtra traction in deep mud. They were great. I sold them cause i sold the Jeep. I'll now buy a Tj and put 32 Goodyear MT/R on if if new tires are needed.
Goodyear MT/R all the way!!

I'd rather Booger than GoodYear MT/R, so i changed my mind and won't buy 32"GoodYear MT/R. I'l go with 33" suoer swamper booger!!!!

If you run the rocks, the BFG "tri-guard" sidewall is a joke. Shredded mine in two Parker AZ. runs. My brother in law has MTRs and they wear like iron. As far as road noise after they wear in, who cares.....you're in a Jeep for cripes sake. After I shredded my BFGs, I went with Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. Works well in the rocks, but tend to chunk a little compared to the MTRs.

So now that the BFGoodrich KM2s have been around for a while, what do you think? MTR or KM2??? Anyone bought the KM2 and wish they'd bought another set of MTRs?

the only reason the mtr is in the same convo as the bfg is because it has a good sidewall. THATS IT. i had the MTRs on my rubi and my brother has the BFGs as we speak, all the MTRs did was wear completely out after 19k and have uneven treads which caused DW. the BFG will do 40k easily, it will perform better in every event. the bfg just has a sidewall that isnt as strong, but unless you crawl alot thats not a problem. in mud the MTRs absolutley suck, a buddy drug my rubi with bfg at's in a pull off because all my mtrs would do is slip on the ground and those were all terrains. the MTRs are way overated and are for rich people on the account of them being over priced. MTRs blow on big balls

The old BFG Mud TAs have weaker sidewalls. The new KM2s have a sidewall that is every bit as good as any other mud radial out there. That was one of the only knocks against the old KMs.
The new KM2s not only improved the sidewall weakness but out did the old KM in every other way also. And that's saying a lot.
The new KM2s are excellent street tires. They are really quiet and smooth. On par with any all-terrain as far as street manners.
There is no doubt, time will show these to be the MUST have tires. I love 'em!

Ftgiles how's the km2's wearing? Are they wearing on par with the older km's? I am refering to the wear on the street, to clarify that. From what you've stated they are wearing very good off road.

Too new to tell.
The last thing I care about is how long the'll last miles wise. Seems like each summer's weather in Phoenix takes a 1/3 of the tread. Then you don't notice anything the rest of the year. Tires and batteries don't last long in Phoenix. So my data don't count for much.
I'd just like to get three years out of them.
I had about 20k on my KMs and 3 summers. They have about 1/3 to 1/2 the tread left.
My new KM2s have about 2k street and 100 miles light wheeling only so far.
I can vouch for their street manners and couple that with the tire tests that you read about. A great tire for your muli-purpose Jeep.
Like I've said before, I can't beleive these are mud tires. They are sweet.
