i live in texas, and bought my 2000 wrangler 4.0L in Austin at Champion Chevrolet, my jeep had a california license plate on it, and it is a california emisions vehicle or what ever. i would like to know what is the difference in a regular vehicle and a california vehicle. ive heard there is something to do with OBD-II electronics or somthing to do with that but I am thinking of doing some catback work and wondering if the exhausts are the only thing different on the california vehicles, thats if the exhaust has anything to do with the exhaust at all.
i would appreciate the info thanks.

The difference with the California Vehicles is the emissions system. They have things like EGR valves, O2 Sensors, Catalytic Converters, PCV valves, Charcoal Canisters, ect...
You know the beauty of this? Almost all vehicles sold in the US these days have all of these items are are CA Certified vehicles.
So to answer your question, if you want to do a cat back exhaust or pretty much any other modification, they all will work regardless if its a CA vehicle or not.
So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!

The California vehicles normally have 4 O2 sensors instead of 2.
