I know i'm suffering form a case of "good motor doesn't necessarily mean a good swap candidate" but,
Has anyone ever heard of putting an IH 345 into a CJ? I'm gonna use the T-19 and dana 300 that were originally with the 345 since they're stout and I won't need adapters. I also just plain don't want a chevy v8 in any vehicle of mine.
I'm not afraid to build my own mounts, etc. just wondering id anyone has ever heard of doing it.
Also i need to replace the tub on my CJ-7, will an early YJ tub fit in it's place relatively easily, i have access to the YJ tub is why

the yj tub could work with some mods, according to some articles I've read.
Sure the IH will work until a head cracks,
Sorry to hear the Chevy thing.....Hope you don't Tripp over the cornbinder...., which is really the bottom of the barrel. The SBC is the best, most reliable engine built not to mention all the aftermarket support they have, don't let prejudice get in the way of a good cost effective choice. when it breaks down you won't have to start over.

Anything is possible but you're pretty much gonna have to build everything to do it. In the end you will have an engine that weighs more than a Chevy Big-block V-8 but makes less power than a Chevy Small-block V-8. Looks like you are already aware, but it's not a good swap.

it'll be something pretty original... not sure you'll ever actually run into someone else who's got the same setup in their rig...

i agree the chevy is a good choice, and the 345 weighs a TON, sell the motor to a binder guy and buy a 302 ford for cheap, the yj tub should fit on the cj mounts for the most part, i knew a guy that did the same swap, don't remember him having major issues

Hey everybody,
Guess what.
I know that thing weighs a ton, but, the 345 is in that CJ now and it is alive and well. The same Scout that donated the motoer is also donating its Dana 44's to the cause too. I know I,m only running 3.55 gears, but with a v8 and 33's, I should be ok.  I spend 90% of my time in mud anyways. i also got a Detroit for the rear for $100 from a friendso that sweetened that deal. probly gonna put a lunchbox up front to go with it. This rig should go anywhere I point it with the 12-15 Ground Hawgs that are on it. Have i left anything out?
