I was wondering if the d44 from a 88 grand wagoneer will fit under the yj. I have a chance to get a vehicle with a bad frame as a donor with a 360 auto trans and transfer case I would like to do a complete drive train swap I need to know if the axles are the same lenght as the yj or close thank you

It's not a bolt in deal at all. Up front you'll need to outboard mount the leaf springs on the side of the frame to match the spring perch width of the new axle. Poison Spyder Customs has a weld-on kit to do this. It is not a simple swap. It requires a lot of cutting and fabricating skill. But yes they are nearly the same width. Out back you will need to remove the spring perches from the new axle, relocate them, and weld them back to the housing. If it sounds like a lot of work, it is.

Yes it took some time yet the out come was worth the work. Kept leaf springs in stock position, and moved p side perch.

I'll have to find the kit and check it out, I never went through all that besides moving perches.

Sooo, passenger-side tire sticks out a couple inches further than the driver-side on the front?

I still haven't found that kit cappa's talking about, I found a full size reversal kit, no relocation brakets for the shackles though.
