Ok I'm jackin up a 96 Cherokee classic but can't decide how high I should be going.  Problem is I can't find good pictures of what these different size lifts are gonna look like on my jeep.  Lots of the manufacturers give pics of cherokees w/ their lifts on em, but all the trucks are at crazy angles going up a rock or something.  I just want to get an idea of how everythings gonna look on level ground.

Can anybody show me to good level pics of about my year XJ w/ lift kit and tire size quoted?  Mostly interested in the 2-3.5in kits.  Thanks

Anybody can suggest a good 2in lift that'll give a nice soft road ride?  Thanks agin

coil spacer and add a leaf or a 2" block out back, it'll ride the same.

Hey guys. I've got a question. Don't the "experts" discourage lift blocks? I have never used them nor have ever owned a lifted ride other than a Jeep. I might need to use them in the future. Not questioning ur knowledge, just wondering.

on the front axle block are definately a big NO NO, when your dealing with the fullsize rigs rear lift springs are great for more travel and ride quality but can't carry a load without pointing the headlights at the tree tops. I always use two inch traction bars and add leaves to the packs to match the front for up to a 6" lift, if you notice the dodge and fords have close to 4" blocks installed from the factory on the rear. most jeeps are spring under so a lift block isn't really and option,
which happens to be something I didn't consider when I mentioned the block for the xj in the post above it sounded good at the time. duhhh

Hey Jp you mentioned it'd ride mostly like stock w/ springs and blocks which seems to say they'll be somewhat of a change in ride.  What kind of change should i expect?

you know, and this is coming from some one who has lifted alot of trucks for alot of people.

go with 4" and smaller tires to start. mudb8 might not agree but eveyone that I have done a 2" lift for comes back in a month or so and wants more lift!

do yourself a favor. get a lift 3"-4" inches. leave your stock tires on. and run it.
once you get used to the height. then look at how big of a tire you might want. and how much fuel milage you want to loose.

actually I do agree, on the 4", completely. thats a good point.
In my case, I knew what I wanted and how to accomplish it. buddies of mine call it a grandpa jeep because they think it isn't high enough, I still manage to lay it on its side with the 2.5" while wheeling, another thing to consider, with the Rancho HD 2.5 lift springs, they lifted it 5" untill they settled, I haven't put a tape to it since, I'm sure it's still over or around 3" after being hammered on.
I've talked people into the 4" also, they seem to think the jeeps just flop over and don't stay on the road if they lift them over 2". after they drive mine with the tires properly inflated, they change their mind on that.

I just can't help myself, I would have to say the difference in ride is gonna come from your choice in shocks. the rear may ride a little stiffer from the 2" add a leaf, if it's sagging it'll be a plus for the ride and handling.

Had a 3inch on my 97 xj, it sat as high as a mid 90's tahoe.  Anything over 4.5 inches don't look nice.  The ride is gonna suck, but it does already.  don't be to cheap, buy the new spring packs for the rear.  the rear of you cherokee won't look like its poopin'......  as much.

looking for mild lift on the cheap,  check junk yards for ZJ front coils, out back- add-a-leaf setups work well
