Ok

I have a stock 1995 Wrangler YJ.
I currently have Crager 15x8 Soft 8 rims. These have 4 inch backspacing (or so i am told).  My suspension has nothing done to it.  Im trying to find out what is the largest tire i could fit on 15x8 rims that would also clear with only a 1 inch body lift?

Any and all input is needed.

Thanks!

With only a 1 inch body lift I think the largest you can go is a 29" tall tire. You may get away with 31's if you trim the fenders and run wheel spacers.

How much of a lift would i need if i was planning on running 32" tires?

2 to 3 inchs maybe. I had a 93 yj with 3inchs of spring lift and 3 inchs of body lift and I ran 36x13.5 tires.

Thanks for posting that mudb8.  I sure do miss that jeep but im glad to say I sold it to a good guy who uses it. He even claim to have taken it to a mud bog and placed 8th out of 25 people in the unlimited class. I cant say its true because I wasnt there to see it but Ox lockers and IROKs do their job and do it well.

Just to follow up on my original post,  i put 31x10.5x15 tires on my Stock YJ.  They fit fine, in the front they dont even come close to rubbing, in the rear their is some room, and the tires wont rub unless a serious pothole is hit.  Actually i think i have room to put 32's on it, but a small body lift would be used just to add taht little extra clearance.

they may touch the top of the fender before the bumpstops hit the axle, they will fit though.

31s are right for your suspension configuration. It takes a ~2" of lift to run 32s on a YJ. That is unless you run TJ flares on the back because they free up some room.
