Hey I'm basically asking whether or not anyone thinks I'm capable of doing a 350 chevy engine swap into a 1980 CJ-7 and what the basic outline of it entails. I've done some work on the Jeep before, I single-handedly did a 4" suspension lift and I'm fairly decent at welding up to 1/4". Would this qualify me to do a swap like this in my garage? I'm just asking for any opinions and advice. Thx

What tranny and t-case are you putting in there? I just blew the engine in my Jeep and have been thinking about swapping it out for a 350. I've been looking for an article on the swap that I found on-line awhile back, but so far no luck. I've never done it before, but have a buddy that has, let me know how your swap goes.

my 350 swap went in fairly easy, but then again it is done and the headaches are behind me. I was the same sort of story, I have decent mechanical abilities and can run a good bead on a welder. There are plenty of aftermarket supplies to help you with the swap, for the motor mounts I used the beefy advance adaptor motor mounts, and got a JB conversions th400 to a dana 300 adaptor plate, and a painless wiring harness helped out alot. dont buy the 700 radiator for the swap, you can get a jegs aluminum one and get some tabs welded on it for only like 200.

There is a lot of research that youll have to do for your own custom setup, but youll be happy you did swap for the 350.
