I travel through the Black Hills twice a week for work and there is numerous hills and curves that are on a 7% grade. My concern is that when the ESP is active in a turn the brake lights do not illuminate... this could cause a rear end collision...which is worse a rollover or being rearended...

ESP?   does that rhyme with gizmology?  hmmmm.   Dude it is you own *** fault for buying such a piece of the latest junk to come out of detroit.  What jeep has now done to the "jeep" is an abomonation.  Chrysler has completely destroyed an American Icon.  For the first time in the history of jeep, they have built and designed a jeep to compete with another brand (ie hummer2).  Before the 2007, jeep was a leader, now they are just another sheep following the herd.  Only in my wildest deams would chrysler have simply improved upon the tj platform. ie, diesel with 6 speed manual as an option for the rubicon,  lighter materials,  etc etc.  Instead the morons built a jeep to compete with hummer,  isn't that something a good girlfriend does?  The horrible joke is on you.

To answer your question,   either way, you break your neck.  so slow down.

i have to agree, jeep,s are not the same,to banish the 4.0 engine for a 3.7 v6 du! chrysler has gone to far, that is why  my old cherokee will be here when all the new is in the junk yards for scrape, i would down trade and be done with it unless you have to have a stadius image, don,t abuse the new jeep,s or you will spend a lot of time at the dealership, good luck, the oldman.

become the xj fan for life like me.. as to the brake lights, they will illuminate most of the time, i know not all people are smart drivers, but it is common sence to see a safe distance petween others, but there are the few that just suck at driving, but hey, look to the bright side, there are still plenty of older jeeps for us to drive!! it would be cheaper to totaly rebuild a older one, then to but a new one!! then you would have a rig that you customized to your needs, not chrysler built crapola. remember to stay prior to 96 for the goodones!!

Ah,,,,     prior to 96"?    I don't know dude;    I have to say the coil springs, and fuel injection are the way to go.  If you want a jeep to run right away, on and off road 97 to 06.  If one wants a project jeep, or restoration, 76 and older.  I personally cannot stand the euro-look rectangular wronglers.   To each his own.
