Hello All,
I am looking for a list of Engine Conversion Shops in the Pacific Northwest.
I am looking to swap a GM 350 into a 02 TJ I6 Manual. I do not have the ability, tools, or the time (job related) to do the conversion myself.
There does not seem to be a web resource that lists all the shops that may specialize in engine swaps.
If anyone knows of a list of websites of shops (or the shops themselves) that do V8 conversions of Jeeps - I'd love to visit it.
Thanks in Advance to any responders,
C

this isn't really the pac nw but has some awsome ideas; http://www.aev-conversions.com I've done a lot but you'd be waiting a while for it to get done, give Rob's off road a call they may be able to help. http://www.robsoffroad.com/ 11955 SE Highway 212 Clackamas, OR 97015 (503) 650-6101
These tires were made for muddin and they're gonna throw mud all over you.

Much appreciated. I'm in the process of having a 5.2L Dodge motor sourced as I could not find resources quickly for a Chevy to TJ swap.
AEV is nice but their price is in the stratosphere. $18K to $22K! Ouch!
Backwoods Offroad is going to do the conversion and Evan is out of Grants Pass, Oregon.
Not a bad price compared to many and seems extremely knowledgeable.

A guy named Don Brown has a shop in your neck of the woods. He was the guy that almost won Top Truck Challange in 2005 in a sweet Willys truck on cut 44-inch Boggers.. He does really good work. If you'd like the number I can look it up.

Thanks John. I've already committed to the 5.2L at Backwoods (I think their old website was Magnum Jeep or something like that).
I struck up a friendship with Evan (of Backwoods) and he informed me why the 5.2 is a good option (wiring, fit, little major transmission conversion).
I saw Jp had an article about a 5.2L swap in the recent past to after doing some research.
Thanks Again.
When I'm shipping - I always pick up a copy of Jp to read at sea (always get a laugh at the Landrover Mags on the shelf next to Jp - snooty and "is it *insert model* as good/better as an Amercian Jeep." type articles).

They just want to think the LR is better because they cost more, Why don't they just buy a Xtera or better yet a G-500 MBZ it is 4wd and has a solid axle and factory lockers, not to mention the 500hp. at least the MBZ doesn't feel top heavy or squirmy, oh.. they might get it scratched on accident or something. (I still want to see one with 37's stuffed under it) When you get it done let me know, I'll come play at Coos-Bay with you, just to make sure you can beat a stock rubi. They can play on the jeep trails but the winch cable from a jeep is what will bring them back lol. Are they better? let them keep wondering or wishing.

There are LR Magazines out of Austrailia and the UK that cater to LandRovers and the OZ one is louder and sounds like it is more of a "Moonie Cult".
Speaking though, there are a lot of Jeeps down under.
I would not turn down a Defender 90 or a G-500 if it was given to me but I've kind of become attached to my Jeep. It's a keeper. (My relatives roll their eyes.)
I work for Military Sealift Command as a Communications Technician.
I'd say Merchant Marine but little old ladies only hear the "Marine" part and start crying and I have to talk them down from the "thank yous" and "it must be hard over there in Iraq."
Might have to take you up on that offer.

I actually came very close to buying a defender instead of my Rubicon in 03, Jem motors had one down there in west Hollywood, I even went and looked at it. Anjelina rocks my world, my wife rolls her eyes and shakes her head.

Days away from pulling into the bay and beginning the swap. Also decided to go for broke and lift it 3.5 as well. It was going to happen anyway in the future so I might as well turn my wallet upside down and make it happen.
