It's about time! Someone finally turned on the light! I am almost surprised it's taken this long for Jeep to ponder a Wrangler Truck - it was my first thought when I heard about the Unlimited. But Jeep seems to be wasting it's resources on making all-new mini Cherokees (Liberty, Compass) and completey redesigning the Wrangler every few years to make it less like a nimble little Jeep and more like every other SUV. And I won't mention the Commander. Does the world (or even just Jeep fans) really need more SUVs?
I've been putting off purchasing a truck waiting for news about the Gladiator (Too good to be true?), hoping to hear it would be both capable and realatively affordable (not likely affordable since it's they again felt the need to completey redesign even though they have a pluthera of great truck platforms already). I often pondered the idea of turning my '99 Wrangler into a truck but it's more trouble than it's worth unless you start with an Unlimited.
It's just too little too late for me though - just a few weeks ago I caved and after never finding a decent deal on an old Jeep truck I finally ended up buying a relatively new Tacoma. Great truck by the way. I waited for you Jeep, but some 4x4 manufacturers are actually manufacturing trucks.
I tried www.askdrz.com and just got the Chrysler website. I was going to try and pass on the word to Jeep... "Duh!"

I saw the one that has been all over the rags in Moab at EJS... very cool and DO-ABLE! They have the parts... they have it built. Now they need to produce it. Build it and they will come... I mean buy it!
O4' Unlimited with stuff... but not enough stuff!

I too tried askdrz.com and was sent to the chrysler website. I sent chrysler my plea to build the JT, and got a timely response. They politely told me it was a concept vehicle and were, predictably, non-commital about the future.
I'm not giving up so fast this time around. I lost faith last time they were going to build a Scrambler, then said they wern't going to do it. Soon after they built the Unlimited. Close, but too late that time around and not really a Scrambler anyway.
I'm ready to dump my GMC 1500 for a JT. I'm on the bandwagon. Let's let Chrysler know that we need this rig!

I think that the biggest reason they don't build one is they are afraid of losing some truck sales...their own. Think about it, a Jeep badged 4x4 midsize truck would probably wipe out Dakota sales all together. And anyone who would discontinue the production of one of the best (seller/popular- you pick) suv's ever (the XJ), can't be playing with a full deck anyway.

so true jaydee. i have had many xjs, i personally love them, i have had an 88 - 89 - 90 - 91 - 2001 , and loved all of them, but the 89 with the stupid tps that screwed up all the time, but yes the jeep truck has been thought about for years, i was so pumped when i heard about it, but now 4 years have passed and i could care less now. the waited to long in my opinion. i shed tears when i seen the liberty, wow i thought, how could the replace they cherokee with that! i know it was around a long time, but it was tried and true. as to the liberty i have never drove one and probly never will, they might be ok, but i blame the liberty for the loss of the cherokee.

I still have one, a 95, could'nt part with it even after buying a new car to replace it as my daily driver. I needed better fuel mileage even though 20 mpg is a good average. I drive a lot because of my job, so now I have six vehicles, a 56 Willys, 78 Powerwagon, 95 Wrangler, 95 Cherokee (XJ) the wifes 00 Neon and a 07 Corolla. I actually looked at a new diesel Liberty but at only 26 mpg I could not justify the purchase over the Corolla (40 mpg and $8000.00 less). Now if I could just figure out how to add a rear axle and swing in a transfer case...

JT....I hope they improve it more than the JK (JoKe).
It is so underpowered & has so much wind noise I'm sick of driving it after less than 500 miles. I rented one for a week in hopes to like it enought to buy the wife one but after a day of driving it I will buy her a left over 2006 TJ.... If I can't find one, I'll buy her a used TJ...The JK is a JoKe!!! Thanks for ruining a good thing Chrysler!!!

One thing is for sure, there are only a few people in the world that don't want Jeep to build the JT... those folks all work at AEV. If this thing gets build we can say buy buy to the Brute, thats for sure...
So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!

I think they need to offer up a truck as well. If they just wanted to put a different front clip or something like that on a dodge 4x4 truck it would be better than nothing. Give us lockers and solid axles though along with a diesel option. No ifs crap. Then do the same with the dokota and solid axles, lockers, front clip, and a small diesel option as well. They maybe shocked but I think it would put sales through the roof.
I break stuff.

Yeh poor AEV if they do decide to build one. I LOVE the brute. Ever since i seen the first prototype i was in love. I agree with mechanic 110% lockers, solid axle , diesel option, rescue green paint, oh baby that sounds sooo good. Make it like a power wagon, but much smaller wheelbase!!
