I just bought an old ford van that had a 351 windsor swaped into it and low miles got for dirt cheap. how will this hold up in my 97 wrangler. I know most people do chevy swaps but this was a steal just had to have it. has any body out there swaped this motor into any of there jeeps before. how did it come out? I wanna replace it for my 4cyl. it has trouble spinnig 33's and isnt very good on gas so if Im gonna spend money on a gas guzzler might as well make it woth wild. oh, and can I still use my tranny I just bought a new one 8 months ago hate to buy another, do they make adapters for this or will this small block V8 tear it apart. thanks eveydody.

I used to have a TJ and now I have an 1986 CJ7. It had the 4cyl in it. And I found a 351W to put in mine for cheap as well. Fitting it to your tranny should not be to big of a deal, check out two websites, http://www.novakconversions.com/ and http://www.advanceadapters.com/
the adapters are not cheap but they do exists.
what tranny do you have?

It's a good engine, but the tranny in your Jeep will also need to be swapped. A V-8 will tear it apart. The transfer case input will also need to be changed. Overall, not including the cost of the engine, expect to spend in the neigborhood of $5,000 to complete the swap properly yourself. Add in cooling, adapters, wiring, driveshafts, misc parts, and it gets expensive quick.
