I'm looking to take this out of it's current environment and share it with the masses, here.

I'm a member on the Project-JK Forums. ( www.jk-forum.com ) and a current owner of a snappy black '07 4dr Rubicon. There has been a running thread on the tendency of the JK to "stall". While ths forum touches a relatively small owner base, it is pretty sad to see how many of us are experiencing an issue with the JK.

Basically, youre driving along minding your own business, when unexpectedly, you can have any combination of events... the lights dim or cut off completely, the dash lights up like a Christmas tree, engine bogs or seems to stall completely, tranny (auto) seems to go into Neutral, all accessories cut out incl A/C. Then - as if nothing happened, the engine spools back up, and everything comes back to life.... as if you just turned on the ignition switch.

The thread is on it' 17th page with many posting their "new addition to the club" and some discussion on the cause/solution. - http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=2634

I'll get it up front for everyone. I bought my JK Unlimited Rubicon in February and I love the design. I have enjoyed this ride since I bought it with only a couple of headaches... this inlcuded. It is DEFINIETLY under powered. My modded ZJ on 33's keeps up with it just fine. However, my latest induction into this "stall bug" that we are experiencing is troubling. In the past, I have noted a few knowlegable people on here, so anyone who works with DCX and has a clue, help us out, please. I like my rig and prefer to keep it.

Apparently there is an electrical box just behind the air filter that doesn't like heat. It causes the engine to do exactly what you are talking about until it cools. Adding a cold air intake seems to make the problem worse. I haven't had the problem myself and I live in the desert. Sooo, maybe not all JKs will have it happen.

I just want to say thank you for some insight into this situation.  I live in the Mountains of North Carolina and have quite a few great places to test my new JK Rubicon out but I have experienced the problems mentioned a few times before.  Do you know if there is anything out there to help this problem?  I've also noticed a bit of lag between changing gears but as you said this machine however cool and effective off the trail is underpowered.

Safety Recall G25 Reprogram TIPM – Engine Stalling

Issued just last week. I had mine done 7-3-07. If you have a Rubi, make sure they clear the trouble code for the swaybar. It (for now) only covers those with build dates UP TO 1-21-07. Mine has a build date of 1-23-07.... just my luck. BUT.. i described the symptoms and such to the maint coordinator, and she had my TIPM reflashed under warranty as a "driveability and safety" issue.

i followed along with several others on jk-forum and filed my complaint with NHTSA.. it was nothing the dealership would be able to work with. i was pretty certain it was a program issue. so far, so good.
