Ok i have searched for info on this swap with no luck. Im not sure if anyone has ever done a write-up on it since its kinda a stupid swap. Well I have a 1987 Jeep Comanche with the TBI 2.5 i have found a 2.5 MPI from a 91 YJ that i am getting for real cheap. I am getting all the ECU and wiring for the engine. He is doing the 4.0 swap like everyone wants me to do but i really like the 2.5 it keeps me from breaking as much off-road. I was wanting to know if anyone knew any complications with this swap using the YJ wire harness and ECU with my Chassis harness. Is it compatible or should i find a XJ/MJ ecu and engine harness for the MPI. Thanks for your time and yes i realize im doing the same amount of work i would do to put a 4.0 in but I am sticking with the 2.5.

Seems to me like it would be as simple as swapping the intake manifold and computer.
Have you tried looking on other Jeep forums? They may be a better help with this particular question.
So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!

I have tried a few others including a Comanche specific site and a local site. I searched on several others without any topics on it popping up. I am thinking the same as you but I am doing the whole motor which shouldnt make a difference. I was just wanting to know if there are any major differences i need to worry with in the wiring. Thanks

I have been told that this is possible and that you just need the new manifold and ECU I would like to find out more myself, because I think I could get more power and better MPG out of my 87 XJ. Unfortunatly it was one of those, The guy at the 4x4 shop told me kinda things with no help full details
