I am 17 years old and i am looking for a decent jeep for under, dont laugh, $500. I live in southern Illinois and am desperate. I dont care how old it is just as long as it is street legal. Description:  1953 Jeep M38A1. 4 Cyl F Head Engine. Dana 44 Rear. Splicer Transfer Case. No title, I will right a bill of sale. $600 OBO

This Jeep doesn’t look bad but it needs work. The body is straight, but it does have some rust. Floor was rusted out and patched with scrap sheet metal and Bondo. The rear floor of the tub seems pretty solid, but the back side was in really bad shape and covered with alum. stock. The frame appears fairly solid but has had some patch works around the body mounts.(due to the floor being rusted out). The windshield frame has been replaced, the glass has a crack, I have an extra glass. The seats are out of a Ford and are in good shape. The fenders and the hood are in good shape. The ID plates are on the dash and the ID plate is behind the seat. I am pretty sure the drive train is original.

There is a new master cylinder and some new brake lines, the brake work will need completed, (wheel cylinders, pads and finish the lines).

The fuel system is a mess, the gas tank is shot. I have a lawn mower gas tank rigged to a electric fuel pump. The carburetor will need to be rebuilt.

I had this running, it has been sitting in my shed for the past couple of years waiting for time and $$$ (to fill my dreams of a V8 and 35's). I saved this thing from the junkyard with hopes to build a rock crawler. The time has come to sell, I need the space and I can’t let it sit outside.

I've got one that you can have for $500 but it needs axles, motor,tranny, the body needs to be put back on the frame, I know I'm a smart alec, good luck in the search, I'm sure you'll find something to fit you're budget, save up another 500 and I'm sure you'll fine a driver.
