Hey do I have to change the gears for 31x10.50 , and also will it look ridiculous with a 4inch lift? I am getting rid of my 33x12.50 super swampers and eventually getting 2.5 inch lift. for my 1982 CJ8.

Look rediculous... to me yes.
Need to regear... what are you at now? Odd's are you won't have to.
So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!

At this time I have 4:11 gears with 33, Automatic trans , 4 inch lift. This is the way I bought it ,I dont Offroad so all of the goodies are overkill. This is my daily driver 40 miles of misery each way.

I wouldent change the gearing at all but I would go with your plan to take the lift down to 2.5inchs. You can leave the 4inch lift but it will probably look goofy with 31s

That thing is going to scream on the highway with 31s and 4.11s if you don't have a OD trans.
