At the risk of being laughed at severely - due to my questions-.........  I purchased a new 06' TJ Sport.  6sp. stick.  I've added a K&N cold air induction system, throttle body spacer and a Banks exhaust system ( from the manifold on ).

Questions:

1. Will the stock manifold "crack" in time, as everybody tells me?
2. Why / How is it that engine temp ALWAYS reads 210 - regardless of driving conditions?  Is 210 "normal", it seems higher than every other vehicle I've ever owned.

Follow-Up to # 2 :  Does the inline six tend to run "hot" ?  If so, should I look at an after market cooling system???

thanks,
47 year old Jeep newbie freak.  ( yes....you may begin to laugh )

No laughing here...in order to your questions, maybe, yes, yes/possibly. I have 2 4.0's, one with a cracked exhaust manifold which has been welded up and one without, go figure. 210 is normal,215 on a very hot day with the a/c on sitting in traffic. My Cherokee tends to run hotter than my Wrangler but I plan on adding a cowl induction scoop to the hood to releive some of the under hood heat buildup. An auxiluary fan may help as also a remote tranny cooler for automatics, the latter I have but have not yet installed.

congrats on the 06 tj they do run "hot" but that is all relative. it maybe too soon to flush and monitor it but any "new" car jeep truck i get all fluids come out and get on my timeline of changing. i don't know about the newer manifolds cracking but a 4.0 is a 4.0  free up some cash in the next couple years yes years you should have that amount of time (unless you bash it up good offroad) and get a header+ catback or just cat forward.

Every single Jeep I have ever seen run's at 210.. lol.. it's like it's a conspiracy or somethin... I think Cappa is behind it.

So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!
